1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Free Freelance Hourly Rate Calculator ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

These Terms apply to all users, including free users and Pro subscribers.

2. Service Description

The Service provides a free tool that helps freelancers calculate their hourly rate based on costs, taxes, overhead, and billable hours. The core calculator is available at no cost with unlimited use.

A Pro subscription ($9/month or $90/year) unlocks additional features including saved scenarios, industry benchmark data, branded PDF rate proposals, and an embeddable calculator widget.

3. Subscriptions & Billing

  • Pricing: Pro is $9/month or $90/year (billed annually), payable via Stripe.
  • Free Trial: New Pro subscribers receive a 14-day free trial. No charge is made during the trial period.
  • Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle unless cancelled before the renewal date.
  • Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access to Pro features until then.
  • Refunds: Refund requests are considered on a case-by-case basis within 14 days of a payment. Trial periods are always free.
  • Price Changes: We may adjust pricing with at least 30 days' notice. Existing subscribers retain their current rate until the next renewal cycle.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code
  • Scrape or automate the Service without permission
  • Share or resell access to your Pro account
  • Use the embeddable widget on sites containing illegal or harmful content

5. No Professional Advice

The calculations and results provided by the Service are estimates based on the inputs you provide. They do not constitute financial, tax, legal, or business advice. You should consult a qualified professional before making pricing or business decisions.

We are not responsible for any financial outcomes resulting from reliance on calculated rates.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, content, and branding, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. Pro users who generate PDF proposals retain ownership of their input data.

The embeddable widget may be used on your own website as part of an active Pro subscription. The widget must not be modified or rebranded.

7. Third-Party Services

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. Your use of Stripe is subject to their terms of service. We do not store credit card information.

The Service may integrate with other third-party tools. We are not responsible for the practices of these external services.

8. Service Availability

We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, updates, or changes with or without notice. We are not liable for downtime or data loss.

9. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service.

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service for violations of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to active subscribers. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
